Likay Droga Program of LGU Gensan Wins Galing Pook Award
Another feather was added to the city’s after Likay Droga (Lingap sa Kabataang Ayaw sa Droga) Program, the brainchild of City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera, bagged the 2017 GalingPook Award.
Recognizing the vulnerability of the youth to the menace of drug addiction, the City Mayor spearheaded the program since its launch earlier last year to enhance and strengthen efforts in protecting the youngsters and other concerned sectors from the ill effects of prohibited drugs.
The project presentation and declaration of winners were held at Monet Ballroom 2 and 3, Novotel Manila, Quezon City on October 11-12, 2017 where the City Mayor presented and defended the program before the distinguished panelists.
The program is in partnership with the 26 Barangays, General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other Non-Government Organizations.
The GalingPook Awards which was launched in 1993 pioneers in recognizing innovative practices and programs by local government units as it evaluates these LGU initiatives in terms of positive results and impact, promotion of people’s participation and empowerment, innovation, transferability and sustainability, and efficiency of program service delivery.
